"You Have To Do This"
Leads Dr. Chris Stern to Oxygen Biotherapeutics
9-24-2009
By a factor of ten, more soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan
will incur traumatic brain injury, than any other serious
battle wound. If Dr. Chris Stern, Chairman and CEO of
Oxygen Biotherapeutics (OTCBB.OXBO) and his team have
anything to say about it, however, their "synthetic
blood" will soon dramatically enhance soldier's
mortality and recovery rates. The company tag line,
"Employing O2. Preserving Life", is no understatement
as to their mission, calling, and potential.
The long and compelling story of oxygen-related therapies,
articulated by Dr. Stern, referenced its origins (check
out Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol) and bountiful indications.
Not wanting to be a "one trick pony", commercial
opportunities extend from acne to wound treatment, to
decompression sickness, and ultimately to heart attack,
sickle cell anemia, and traumatic brain injuries.
The company's first product, Dermacyte, a topical gel
delivering oxygen to skin cells, hits store shelves
October 19th. Dr. Stern quickly shifted to pitchman
and glibly hailed its ability to "eliminate all
wrinkles"! Phase II clinical trials for Oxycyte,
addressing TBI, are set to begin in Switzerland and
Israel, negotiations for United States' trials are ongoing.
Altering his tone, Dr. Stern sincerely emphasized the
moral obligation, over the profit motive, to better
offer treatment of our soldiers and veterans.
Dr. Stern expressed insights related to their corporate
move from California to RTP (which should be glowingly
portrayed in all future NC Chamber of Commerce propaganda),
"vulture" capitalists, gaining and maintaining
corporate focus, and moving to the AMEX or Nasdaq, potentially
as early as December. Whether you invest in the company
or not, Oxygen Biotherapeutics is a story that everyone
in the audience warmly embraced, and will unanimously
root for its success.
